Forest Products Society

The Forest Products Society is an international not-for-profit technical association founded in 1947 to provide an information network for all segments of the forest products industry — from standing tree to finished product.

Forest Action Team

UMConnect will be used to host monthly web-based meetings for the NE Forest Industry Action Team. The core members of this team include the US Forest Service Superior National Forest, the State of Minnesota's Department of Natural Resources and Iron Range Resources, Lake County, the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission and the University of Minnesota's Natural Resources Research Institute and Extension Service.

Minnesota Logger Education Program

The Minnesota Logger Education Program (MLEP) was established in 1995 to assist logging business owners in meeting ever-changing demands of their profession. MLEPprovides assistance to Minnesota’s logging community through educational programming. This objective is accomplished by partnering with numerous groups to identify needs and facilitating the development, design, delivery and evaluation of programs which focus on sustainable forest management, transportation, safety and business management. MLEP, which is based in Duluth, MN, is a 501(c)(3) organization. Logging business owners who achieve membership within MLEP are required to meet educational and legal business requirements.

Our members take great care to encourage conservation, proper forest management and industry development that fosters sound enviromental stewerdship, multiple use of timber lands and long-term timber supply.
